Stop Bleeding Gums and Protect Your Smile
Do your gums bleed when you brush or floss? Are they sore, red, or swollen? These are early warning signs of gum disease, a common but serious oral health condition that can lead to tooth loss if not treated promptly. At our dental clinic, we specialise in diagnosing and treating gum problems before they become more severe. Our experienced dentists and hygienists use gentle, effective techniques to restore gum health and help you maintain a confident, healthy smile.
What Causes Bleeding Gums?
Bleeding gums are usually a symptom of gingivitis the early stage of gum disease. This often develops when plaque, a sticky film of bacteria, builds up around the gum line. Without proper cleaning, the bacteria irritate the gums, making them inflamed and more likely to bleed. Other factors such as smoking, poor diet, stress, certain medications, or medical conditions like diabetes can also increase your risk of gum disease.
Signs You Shouldn’t Ignore
It’s important to spot the signs of gum disease early to prevent it from progressing into periodontitis, a more advanced form that can damage the bone supporting your teeth.

Treating Bleeding Gums
Our team offers comprehensive gum care to stop bleeding gums and prevent further damage. For mild cases, a professional cleaning and improved home care may be all that’s needed. Our hygienists can perform deep cleaning treatments such as scale and polish or root planing to remove plaque and tartar below the gum line.
For more advanced gum disease, we provide tailored periodontal treatments designed to restore gum and bone health. We also offer personalised advice on brushing, flossing, and lifestyle changes like quitting smoking to maintain long-term results.
If gum disease has already caused tooth loss, we can discuss suitable replacement options, including dental implants or bridges, to restore both function and appearance.
